How does a centaur factor into all of this? Asking for a centaur friend who feels left out.
That is a very interesting question.
Now as a half human, half horse, we can assume they get the best of both worlds. As a horse is capable of putting out much more horsepower than any human, I would give them the benefit of also being able to generate up to 15 horsepower.

But wouldn't the horsepower halve? He's only half horse, so I think it's more like 7 or 8 horsepower.

Of course a pregnant centaur would still have 15, as 2 halves make a whole.

Not sure. I heard centaurs are hung like a horse.

If you halve it due to it being only half horse, you would also need to apply the horsepower a human is capable of generating. So assuming we are talking an athlete, you could add up to 3 or evenm 3.5 horsepower, which would bring your total to a little bit more than 10.

Would that feel fair for your well hung friend?

It's all a bit complicated. His mother was a horse, his father a human. I think 10 horsepower sounds about right.

Although he says a well-educated centaur can beat a horse in physical combat, so it's not all about crunching the numbers. Besides, I've been told centaurs settle all their conflicts with rock-paper-scissors anyway.
