So I haven't been here the whole duration of it's life, though I have a comparison from how it started to how things are looking now a year on...and it's fair to say things have grown a lot here!
When I first joined this site there was a mix of excitement and concern in the beginning, excitement about a new site that was better built, that had a lot of new features, was better moderated...and had all this potential to mold and grow...like a new frontier...however, like all new frontiers...you need the investment to gain a proper foundation, and that investment largely comes from it's members and the content they contribute, the interaction with posts...the atmosphere that they bring and I think for a while that was the big concern, the numbers just weren't appearing...
I think it's fair to say the death of GetDare changed things around, dedicated members finally had no place to turn to and came to join KW, of course those that had not come yet...and the site grew faster, posts sprang up, chat became populated, fun was flooding the forum that was waiting for it
Though what do things look like from my perspective right now...
One big dynamic feels different when I observe the forum...there are more men getting attention in threads from women than I saw on GD, those cumulative threads, the last girl trigger threads seem more active than I have known before, and yet I am not seeing the same happen vice versa...it's almost to me like there is less female submission on the forum, fewer add threads than GD, maybe I'm just seeing a snapshot in time, but it feels like some members who posted a lot on GD don't post as much here...this is not a criticism just an observation, almost like a dynamic shift...where this is more of a girl power platform than GD was...
Of course we still see the usual guy posting in 10 threads at a time to hope for some crazy engagement, that will never change
But I can't help wondering the direction this site will go, in another 6 months, in another year...
New members bring new energy, though looking back to the old, old days of GD...I feel that creativity isn't the same...maybe less focus on the forum and more on chat maybe? Maybe lower attention spans in the general populace?
Again...not calling anyone out, not having a moan...just noticing trends...and maybe I am looking in the wrong places, or seeing a poor snapshot...
However, I will try to kick start my creative brain again, there are a lot of tools...dice, timers, etc... that mean we can have more fun games, and I will aim to create some fun things...
And all the while new members are joining, and I hope this community grows, not just in numbers but in positive and thoughtful interaction, I think back to how things used to be in the prime of GD...and I think this site has the potential to bring back that community, that spirit and that fun that kept people engaged, kept people active and brought crazy fun for those willing to partake
