I'm just a regular person

I’ve been told more than once that I’m intimidating.

Sometimes I wonder if that’s because of the mod (now site owner) title under my name. Or maybe it’s because I was fairly well known on the “other” kink forum. Titles and reputations can create distance, I guess. They can make someone seem bigger, louder, more unapproachable than they actually are.

But here’s the truth:

I’m just a real, regular person.

I’m not sitting here on some throne. I’m usually curled up with my phone, half distracted by real life, probably overthinking something small and binge watching something trashy.

I genuinely love this space.
I love talking and meeting new people.
I love when people participate in my AMA and ask thoughtful (or chaotic) questions.
I love giving tasks and seeing creativity unfold.
I love hanging out in chat.
I love silly parlor games and inside jokes and shared laughter.

That’s the stuff that makes a community feel alive.

Yes, I take the site seriously. Yes, I care about rules and structure and keeping things safe. But that doesn’t make me unapproachable. It just means I care.

I’m mostly friendly. I promise. I’m pretty easy to approach. I don’t bite unless you ask really nicely.

So please don’t be intimidated.

Don’t skip my AMA.
Don’t avoid my threads..
Don’t hesitate to reply to my personal ad..
And please don’t go quiet in chat when I pop in.

I’m here because I enjoy being here. With you.

At the end of the day, behind the username and the badge and whatever reputation you think I have, I’m just a real person who likes connection, conversation, and a little bit of kink.

Working as mod or admin is always pretty thankless, it takes a lot more effort than most people realise as well as creating that divide you describe. It sometimes feels like you're the adult walking into a room of kids, they all suddenly go silent and you're left wondering what it was they were all busily talking about before you walked in.

You just want to feel like you're one of the crowd again.

Everyone needs to remember, a forum like this doesn't just exist. The staff build the framework but it's the members who build the content. And all of us together make it work. It's not some AI based bot running this place, it's all done by people like you and me, and Butterfly, just another one of us kinky folk who love hanging out together. Let's not forget that.

Yes! I have considered having a second account to just be a regular member, but I also don't want to be deceitful.

"mostly friendly". Lol. I've always found you to be friendly and helpful here.
I can be not friendly if needed haha.

I can definitely attest to Butterfly not being intimidating. Except when she bites my ass..
One time!!!! And I even put a bandaid on it.

@Butterfly, I love it when you are in the chat when I am!
Aww, thank you <3

That sounds pretty intimidating :p But I agree, she's very fun!
Shush you!

I definitely used to find you intimidating back in ye old days of GD though part of it was my first time actually actively participating in kink as I was previously a lurker.

I can also attest that the mod/site owner title can also be intimidating. You can definitely get psyched out when thinking about messaging THE Butterfly.

I will also attest that you are very much a normal person (and fellow glitter addict) and that other people shouldn’t be intimidated or afraid to interact with you. Definitely reminds me of a big dog, like a Rottweiler or Doberman, usually seem very scary but are actually sweet little babies.

TL/DR don’t be afraid of Butterfly

Oh shush! You don't want the Revered Mother B to wake up!
Actually (and sorry to reply to my own reply to a reply to my own reply) maybe we should start calling Butterfly "Revered Mother Bee" (she flutters like a butterfly but stings like a bee!) just to scare the young'uns (the kinklings? the paddle-ones? the Littles?)?
