I've been lurking in lots of different forums that host spaces for personals, but I've always been hesitant to post one of my own. I'm concerned about the risks. I really like the idea of meeting up with someone and finally being able to give up control, but I can't help worrying that it would be unsafe.

If you've ever met up with someone through a personal ad before, how did it go? What things did you do to keep it safe? Did you use something like the Life360 app? Did you have concerns about the person or people you were meeting with taking and sharing photos of you, and were you able to do anything to stop that from happening? What are some things you wish you had known before going?

I met my husband and long term boyfriend and sub all on kink forums or Reddit. I will say that we took time to form a connection online before we discussed meeting in person.

When we did meet in person, we met in public first, I had people in my personal life who knew I was meeting a stranger and they were waiting for me to contact them with a "password" so that they knew I was safe. We did not engage in any kink when we first met. When we did, we went slow, and I made sure I was super comfortable. Bondage came later so that I could still be in control of my own safety.
