I've been stressing over this curator thing. How do I get people to engage? How do I get people participating?
And the answer is, I can't. I can't be the forum, i can't be the community. The platform is here, now y'all need to
use it. If you pop in and don't immediately see a post that piques your interest, make one. If you're feeling
like there's no engagement, then engage with people. If you want to be a part of community events, organize
a community event.

In short, this is a space we build together. If you feel it is lacking something, then build it, and we'll be the foundation.
We'll engage, we'll reply, we'll promote, we'll moderate. But the first step is you. Think of what you would want from this forum,
and then create it.

Or search or browse the forums. There are multiple pages. We have a lot of interesting threads that have little or no replies.

So yes, I agree, more engagement from others is needed. I'm not sure how to help make this happen.

*coughs* Engage? Make it so, number one!

Maybe promote the roll call more, encourage people to say hi and express what they are here for? I almost forgot about that but when I first joined I missed that one and thought "huh, no introduction threads? That's new" - perhaps I am not the only one. (This is mostly my sci-eng brain going "get data!")

I don't know how to do that though. How do we promote it and get people to look?

Perhaps move it to the top on the forum list and call it "announce yourself" or something like that. Could also point towards it when people register first, like an automatic DM they receive. Those can be a good idea in general. Even though I know it is an automatic thing it does feel a little more welcoming. (I am a bad example though since I honestly cannot recall if either of those things happened)

You can only do your best, and honestly, you have all done amazingly! It takes all of us members to build on the framework you provide, and I would love to see more being posted and done by us all. Being creative isnt always easy, but participating in and supporting what is already available helps with motivation and finding new ideas. Once the momentum is there its a lot easier to keep going, getting going is the hard bit.

To support this, I am currently trying to think of some new and fresh ideas for threads, I don't want to just repeat someone else's idea from somewhere else, but am struggling a bit. One idea I did have was a thread where we can each suggest an existing thread that deserves more interaction and justify why that is. Would that be something useful? It might create some debate at least?

I love this idea!

You're all making this very complicated though - I feel just being there, respond on fun threads, appreciate it, keep the place clean and whenever you feel in the mood create content with a bigger group of staff and key members WILL just make it work!

I don't think there's a secret ingredient on 'how to get people to engage', except for showing your own engagement - which you all truly do! Thank you for that, it makes me (and I think many others), to 'be a part of it' (- create "The fear of missing out" haha)
