Lately I've been curious about blackmail...the idea of someone having leverage so you truly have no choice but to obey is intriguing. I've been playing a dice game on another site that involves possibly revealing your identity and naked pics. I'm entirely too trusting, assuming that most people are decent human beings and will respect limits, not violate others without consent, etc. Most people either don't follow through at all or only ask a few small reasonable tasks before moving on. When I win, I always ask for limits and honestly would probably never actually expose anyone, if for no other reason the people I am exposing them to hasn't consented to receiving their pics....Posting publicly to an exposure site or something is a little different. Anyway, I had a bad, scary experience with this.

I lost this game, and the person demanded a few more pics, fine...but then he found a family member's contact info and demanded a large sum of money. I made it clear that he did not have my consent to contact this person, and that if he did so, I would be able to find and report him and have him charged with extortion. Nevermind the fact that I didn't have the money to send him even if I wanted to. He did not back down, and I blocked him, and fortunately for both of us he hasn't followed through with his threats, but it was still a sickening feeling for a few days wondering if I was going to get an unpleasant call. I actually am better equipped than most people to track someone down who does this sort of thing...having subpoena power and FBI connections are nice, but that still wouldn't undue the initial damage if he were to contact my family (or friends or colleagues), even though it ultimately would have ended much worse for him.

Anyway, it's embarassing that I was so stupid to put myself in that position. Be careful out there, some people don't respect limits or common sense.

Personally, I always assume that a stranger on the other end wont respect any limits. Listened to too many true crime stories.

I have done consensual blackmail with my sub. It is pretty stressful on both sides I feel. It takes a LOT of trust and communication and setting out what the steps to exposure could be.
This is not something that I would enter into willingly with a stranger, or even in the first year of a long term dynamic.
People who do this non-consensually suck! You definitely have to be careful with who you play with online.
BUT if you do find yourself in a blackmail situation, know that a lot of the time, they are likely lying. If they aren't go to your authorities. Depending on where you are, there are laws against online crimes like that.
Stay safe friends!

My biggest fear with blackmail (at least the online variety) is that even if I know they are lying, I still would need to report it to work, who would then need to report it to the feds. And those are the entities I would be most concerned with any blackmail being sent to in the first place. I'm pretty sure most of my family has figured it out by now; and my entire social group is based in the kink scene.

This is such a tricky idea to get into, I’ve always thought it would be great fun blackmailing someone, I know I wouldn’t ever do anything that’s really going to mess with their life, but as soon as I’ve said that to anyone wanting to be blackmailed they’ve completely lost interest lol. I don’t think I’ve ever got past a few messages discussing it.

Kind of one of those "careful what you wish for" scenarios I feel. Something that might be hot to fantasize about, but the reality is a whole lot scarier.
