I use KIK, basically just out of habit and as kind of “industry standard” but I don’t like it. It is simply not what it used to be and is getting worse over time.
As basic communication tool I use Discord.
For interacting with community I use Reddit.
If you looking for something more visual, interactive, game-like, I used Second Life in past. Only downside is that it’s not mobile friendly.
Erofights is another great interactive option, especially for switches.
