Ok, so, I met this dom on a different kink forum, and he has offered up a few tasks for me, but one of them was something I had never heard before: he wanted me to paint some nail lacquer onto my clit for some reason.

Now, I'm not a doctor, but that seems like a very unhealthy thing to do. Nail lacquer can have ingredients in it like methylbenzene, formaldehyde, styrene, and napthalene. In appropriate amounts (and on the nails where it belongs, allowed to harden) this is probably fine, and there are lacquers out there without ingredients like that in them (many brands have sworn off of formaldehyde, for example, and it's almost completely unheard of these days), but on the clitoris? That's a very vascular area of the body. With the way my labia are (looking a bit like this (link goes against the rules)), unless I keep my labia spread for an absurd amount of time, it's not like it's going to dry. It'll just spread all throughout my folds.

On top of that, he wanted me to masturbate like that, so I'd be rubbing it in and potentially getting it inside my vagina. I feel like this is something that could make me very sick if I were to attempt it, and I'm not going to. I don't even masturbate after painting my nails, dried lacquer and everything. I know why he wants me to do it, the lacquer would definitely cause irritation and possibly inflammation, but holy fuck.

I told him my concerns about it, but he hasn't read or replied yet, so I'm curious: is this something anyone else has ever tried on purpose? Do we have anyone smarter than me who can weigh in on the potential risks of doing this? Is this some well-known thing that I'm only just now hearing about?

Yikes! That sounds like somebody who is very unsafe to play with. You did the right thing questioning him. Unless he seriously back pedals when you discuss this with him, I wouldn't ever engage in any kind of play with him again honestly.

I don't know the actual safety of it but I would definitely question it. I do also wonder the experience levels of this Dom. Is he new and just uneducated in kink and body safety? Because if that's the case if you wanted to it might be worth working with him as long as he's open to learning and doing some research. If he claims to be experienced I would probably cut ties unless he can provide some serious evidence to the safety of this. (And even if he does I still wouldn't do it). Although vaginal safe clit paint could be a cool business idea

Yeah that is absolutely a big yikes. Besides the nail lacquer causing irritation and possible skin issues it also could be absorbed into the blood stream causing systemic issues. This seems like a giga red flag. I agree with others, I would never play with this person unless they totally back pedal and apologize and want to continue to learn but honestly this is so risky and seems like it has no concern for your body.

Yeah, either this person is completely uneducated on chemicals, what contains them, and where they should and shouldn't go... or they don't care. In the case of the latter, run, run fast and run far. This person is lethal.

I’ve never heard of that either, don’t think I want to again. Sounds very dodgy, I can think of several ways that might not be good but couldn’t say for certain. Don’t do it and seriously question if this guy has any idea what he’s talking about.

I have actually seen reference to it somewhere but am not sure where. As to the safety of it I lack the required knowledge to answer that, but tend on the already established side. I can not imagine it would be good for you in such a sensitive area. You have absolutely done the right thing in not following through with it. I would already agree that the established consensus is also right. If this is an establishing bound you want to peruse it is worth seeing if you can help educate them on safety. If it is not however, I would say to advise them to educate themselves on safety and if you choose to you could help them do so. But it is not your obligation to do so. If you do not feel this is a task you want to take on you shouldn't. Either way I would be careful with advice from them.

Well, I have some experience of this, it's quite common as it's supposed to be painful, I tried it once myself and found it quite unspectacular. Once it has dried, you can easily peel it off.

Regarding the ingredients, I wouldn't do it every day or all the time, but from my point of view, there's not much that can happen.

At least I personally didn't find it particularly exciting. But that's just my personal experience, but I hope it helps a little.

With the chemicals involved I would still air on the side of caution with this one. While it may not of effected some, others could have a different reaction. With such a sensitive area airing on the side of caution is never a bad idea.
