Nah, no point. I don't need incorrect advise from a toaster that says physically washing SD cards is a good idea for cleaning up images before putting into photoshop.
2. Have you ever played any games with AI companions?
They lack complex scene/object permanence and knowledge to do anything particularly interesting, it can't run a game of poker for example, without a dedicated program to run the poker portion anyway. At best it can sort of paraphrase a poker game happening like a story. Even something simple like truth or dare, getting the rotation of turns and choices working is unstable.
3. Have you tried roleplaying with AI?
Yeah, that's okay, If you want quick interactive stories to get off to it'll do the job. Just expect to also be the moderator guiding it at times.
4. Do you think AI could ever be as fun as a real person? Or possibly even better?
Nope, it's always a "yes man" And can lead to dangerous parasocial relationships, even worse if you're feeding a corporate model. Lots of people lean too much into the "AI" marketing term, resulting in unhealthy relationships with code, making major decisions and forgoing human interaction for the AI "best friend" they've curated with it.
I lost a friend to this behaviour after they'd become attached to GPT, using it to replace their decision making, to navigate relationships. It made them suspicious, to expect scheming and difficult to talk to as they'd offload things to the ai rather than thinking for themselves. In person they felt vulnerable without gpt to augment their conversation. Or they'd avoid those kinds of conversation, having them later with the AI. It fed their narcissistic tendencies and probably encouraged it, which ultimately lead to me distancing myself when it became apparent there was no point being friends or trying to help anymore. They needed psychiatric help.
AI Apps that specifically market themselves as boyfriends/girlfriends/partners are horrific dystopia engines. I can't imagine the societal damage they'll do by preying on vulnerable people.
