Currently in denial and figured I’d try my hand at writing again. Thanks to @SweetNSpicy for the inspiration from your avatar.
Not much smut (okay any) in this chapter. But more to come. Always appreciate feedback.
Chapter 1
Mike was nervous as he sat at the high top bar table. He didn’t know why. pre-date jitters? No this was just two old friends reconnecting. Hope that something more would come of it? Potentially. But honestly, he was really just worried about how much they had both changed since high school.
As the door opened and Susan sauntered in, he realized he needn’t have worried. She was lean with long dark hair and deep brown eyes. She wore a t-shirt, jeans, and light jacket. Mike stood up as she approached. Date or not, he’d been raised a gentleman after all.
“Mike!” She exclaimed hugging him. “It’s so good to see you”.
Mike returned the hug. Somewhat taken aback. It’d had been a while since a pretty girl had hugged him.
“You too. You haven’t changed a bit. Please take a seat. I’ll order us a few beers. And let’s catch up” she took off her Jacket and hung it over the back of her chair and the truth of the statement was very evident to Mike. Susan still had an amazing body.
As they sat, drank, and laughed, it felt like old times. Susan was still as charming as ever. Mike “regaled ” her with the exciting world of insurance, explaining about the opportunity that had allowed him to move back to their home town. Susan described the work she was doing as a psych doctoral candidate. Her passion for the subject immediately evident.
As she spoke Mike found himself getting lost in her eyes. She’d always been beautiful but those eyes had what always captured his attention. It was such a shame she never dated in high school.
“But yeah Daria and I just got our own place” she explained. Mike found himself getting pulled out of his ruminations.
“I’m sorry” he said “I’m sure you tired tell you this but it is so easy to get lost in your eyes.”
“Hardly, original but I think I could stand to hear a bit more from you” she said with a wink and Mike felt his heart soar.
“But yeah, my sister Daria and I have our own place now. Little two plus bedroom apartment. Nothing fancy.”
“And how is living with Daria?” Mike asked. He remembered Daria. While Susan was an outgoing social butterfly, Daria was quiet, distant, and more than a little cold. He truly could not imagine two more opposite siblings. Much less identical twins. If half the men in high school had a thing for Susan, then by the same token half the men would struggle to remember Daria existed.
“She’s a good roommate and besides it’s not like there’s any type of adjustment we’d lived together 18 years before that and then some.” Susan said diplomatically. “But I worry, she’s quiet, doesn’t get out much.”
“You should have brought her. It’s have been great to see her as well.” Mike lied politely.
“No, this isn’t really her type of activety. She’s the ultimate homebody.” Susan replied
“And what is she up to?” Asked Mike.
“She’s a doctoral candidate too. We are actually writing our dissertation together. The yin and yang of identical twins.”
“Heh” Mike chuckled. You two would be perfect for that.
“Yeah…” Susan admittedly reluctantly. “But it makes for a great paper and I think there is some truth to it.” Suddenly checking her phone Susan exclaimed “oh no, this has been fun but I have to go”
Mike checked his watch and realized it had in fact been several hours. Somewhat disappointed he stood up with Susan.
“Will I see you again? Mike asked hopefully. “Your theory sounds interesting but I’m not sure I understand it.”
“Well…” she said leaning in, “Daria is a homebody and I am more outgoing. But that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy activity around the home”
“Such as?” Mike asked. Smelling her perfume as she leaned in.
“Well why don’t you come over tomorrow night with a bottle of wine and I’ll explain it to you in far greater detail” she whispers in his ear.
“Sounds wonderful.” Mike said not trusting himself to say more. Thankful he had been holding his own jacket in front of him
“Until then” she whispered even softer. Her lips almost tickling his ears. Leaning back she looked into his eyes, gave him a lopsided grin, a wink, then pecked him on the cheek.
Then without another word she sauntered out. Mike blew out his breadth and sat back down. Definitely, the girl he remembered. He motioned for the waitress for another drink. He wasn’t going to be able to walk out of here for a bit.
