This post is for those with a penis - This is core education regarding basic penis health - demystifying erections and core safety about erections and risks of prolonged erections.

  1. Demystifying Erections
How do erections happen? is it magical horny mischievous imp possessing a specific region of your body? (I mean maybe also)
but to fully understand what an erection is, how it happens and what risks you face wielding a weapon you need to understand the penis - become one with the penis
BASIC PENIS ANATOMY
Penis Anatomy.jpg

Don't worry there won't be a test --> The above image is important to explain how erections happen and why we need to be careful with how long they last!
The penis consists of three cylindrical chambers: the paired corpora cavernosa and the corpus spongiosum. Most important parts of this anatomy above are:
  • The position of the Deep Artery (positioned centrally in the corpus cavernosum)
  • The position of the Veins
Simplified Erection Physiology:
The Corpus Cavernosum is an erectile tissue - when not erect (flaccid) --> they are just spongy tissue --> during erection the nervous system increases the blood flow into this tissue - the spongy tissue fills with blood and it forms a firmer, more full tissue that creates your wonderful erection! As pictured above - when erect and full of blood the corpus cavernosum now is full and compresses the veins external to them - this prevents the blood from leaving the erectile tissue and keeps your erection nice and firm (simply put - it expands and blocks the veins that drain the blood to keep it full!)

- This is also how cock rings can aid with increasing erection turgidity (firmness) --> It acts as an external source to compress those outermost veins and keep the blood in the erectile tissue - More on their safety later!

However! This being the mechanism of a wonderfully erect penis comes at a cost --> You have now obstructed the veins to your penis --> Therefore no blood is draining from your penis --> so no new blood can fill your penis ---> your blood is now trapped in your penis

Blood in your penis has enough nutrients and oxygen to safely supply these tissues for no more than 4 hours at any one time!

THE 4-HOUR RULE OF ERECTIONS!
In kink especially - we love a drawn out scene or tasks involving edging and playing with a hard penis or being challenged to have a cock ring or equivalent on for 'X' Amount of time.

Therefore ALL PENIS OWNERS NEED TO KNOW THE 4-HOUR ERECTION RULE
  • ANY SINGLE ERECTION LASTING >4 hours is a Medical Emergency (if you can not end the erection by 4 hours through any method that normally helps - PLEASE SEEK URGENT CARE IMMEDIATELY)
    • Yes NOW, not 'give it 10mins or 20 mins maybe it will get better' --> TIME IS PENIS -- your penis is being suffocated and the tissues will start to become damaged as time elapses past 4 hours!
    • If you can end your erection in a usual way please do so before the 4 hour mark! aim for maximum 3 hours of constant erection before taking a break, this includes removing cock rings or equivalent items e.g. pumps.
  • after 4 hours that blood trapped in your penis is out of goodies --> the tissues have used it up and replaced it with products needing to be removed from your body --> as the tissues struggle more and more for essential oxygen and nutrients they will become damaged and eventually in not too much time become irreparably damaged
- Do not worry too much --> Simply take a break, relax that cock and let some fresh blood flow through for a hot minute to revitalise those tissues and then you're free to go wild again!

2.
BREAKING YOUR PENIS
Everyone has heard the horror story about breaking a penis --> But how can it break if there are no bones? --> simply put this can only happen during erection when those lovely columns of erective tissue are full and firm!
These columns (corpus cavernosum and spongiosum) are contained with fibrous muscular linings --> Injury during an erect state means the tissues are not flexible enough to accommodate stretch or sudden movement and then -as with tendon injuries- they can rupture --> you may notice a popping sensation --> blood will often now leave the erectile tissue as it is not maintained and usually that pain will kill the moment for you anyway!

Broken penis's hurt! they are very very bruised very quickly and usually deformed/ not a usual shape as you have now lost the structural integrity ---> THIS IS ALSO A MEDICAL EMERGENCY and will pretty much is always a surgical correction of the tissues to massively reduce complications. There is also a strong likliehood to loose an inch or two to allow for correction or fixing the damaged part of the penis. (It's a terrible situation all around)

So what can we do to prevent a penis breaking? --> be aware that it is a possibility --> have fun, be rough as you like but be careful with where and how you stick it in places --> be aware of what positions and points of an erection are the most risky so you can just be cautious of yours and if relavant your partner(s) movements.

LIST OF RISKY MOMENTS
  1. Erections have phases - just moments before you reach orgasm is the most firm point of your erection process and therefore the phase most likely to sustain a break ---> go wild get that orgasm but make sure your build up isn't a ruined orgasm in the worst way
  2. This goes for edging and prolonged edging --> you are now likely in that final phase for now a prolonged time so be careful with the way you're wielding your weapon
  3. Sexual intercourse - most common act for breaks
  4. The forceful application of pressure to reduce an erection, called taghaandan, used in many Middle Eastern cultures
  5. Vigorous masturbation
  6. Rolling over into an erect penis (8.2%) - important if squirming in bondage
  7. Use of recreational drugs (esp stimulants, nitrous oxide etc) increase this risk as it increases risky behaviour and also erection turgidity
  8. Use of erection supporting aids - viagra or equivalent, cock rings, pumps... same as above ) minus behaviour changes
RISKY POSITIONS
  1. REVERSE PARTNER ON TOP !!! Ride safely people
  2. PARTNER ON TOP
  3. DOGGY STYLE
I know its terrible --> It's all the fun ones! I'm sure you are all aware the majority of the time these positions are safe and fun --> they just have the biggest risk for slip outs and then being bent in the fun of all the movement - so ride carefully ;)

3. FRENULUM INJURIES
Very common and not as dangerous as previous above entries --> BUT THEY CAN LOOK DRAMATIC!
A frenulum tear can be very painful at the time, but it does not typically lead to complications. Surgery may be necessary in rare, severe cases.

The frenulum, or “banjo string,” is the small ridge of tissue that connects the head of the penis to the shaft. It also acts as a natural retractor of the foreskin over the glans/ head of the penis.
It is an area with lots of nerves, so it is extremely sensitive. A short frenulum can lead to problems, such as difficulty pulling back the foreskin.

A small tear causes pain and bleeding --> if bleeding is minor - ensure clean hands and use a clean cloth to apply pressure to the area, bleeding should stop after a few minutes of pressure being applied consistently --> gently use warm soapy water to clean your penis. you can apply a band aid to the area of tear if wished to help reduce infection and antibiotic creams can be gotten from primary care doctors or sometimes pharmacists to ensure the area and wound is clean and can heal.

Since frenulum tears are usually short-term injuries that heal by themselves, a person should not panic if their frenulum tears.

This is a sensitive area and it is common for this to hurt --> it can turn into a dull throbbing ache after initial injury pain settles.

WHEN TO SEEK URGENT CARE
  • A person should consider a trip to the emergency department if bleeding is excessive and does not slow down after a few hours. In some cases, stitching the wound is necessary.
  • If the cut does not heal after a few days or continues to bleed excessively, it is best to consult a doctor. They can prescribe an oral antibiotic if there are symptoms of infection.
  • Some symptoms of infection may include:
  • a tear that refuses to heal and keeps opening
  • swelling or redness around the injury
  • continued pain, tenderness, or warmth around the tear
  • skin discoloration, pain, pus or discharge coming from the wound
  • loss of sensation in the penis area
  • a burning sensation when urinating
  • urinating more often than usual
SUMMARY
  • Do not force a single erection to last 4 or more hours at one time - give the little guy a wee break and chance to breathe
  • Be careful wielding your weapon - especially in partner on top or doggy style, rolling about squirming when erect, or applying force to reduce erection/ climax
  • Seek URGENT CARE for erections that won't resolve after 4 hours or you suspect a broken penis
  • Frenulum tears are common and painful but can be self managed unless the bleeding is excessive or you are worried for infection

NOW GO BE FREE AND USE YOUR WEAPON AS YOU WANT BUT SAFELY

I hope this has been fun and informative --> if you have questions or other topics you would like explained comment below or PM and I can arrange a thread if you dont feel comfortable posting! :) :) LETS BE SAFE AND HAVE ALL THE SHENANIGANS AND KINKY FUN
