My thoughts on female chastity devices

Reply to thread
I have been intrigued for a long time about female chastity devices. I love the idea of chastity in general but it has always seemed to be more prevalent with men than with women. I recently spent some time researching female chastity belts as I would like to try chastity, ideally long term. Most "beginner" chastity belts are around $100 USD which is not super pricey as far as sex toys go but not something that I could easily impulse buy. I looked on numerous sites, and for these beginner belts, it seemed that most sites sold the same pieces, just at different price points. Interestingly, many sites did not have any reviews available for me to look at (important for me when buying almost anything online), however, I did find some on Amazon. It would be sufficient to say, many reviews were not great. Many noted issues with fit and poor materials. I recall one that stated the piece was made out of nickel instead of the stainless steel which was advertised which would be a huge problem for me as I have a severe nickel allergy. Additionally, after perusing Reddit, the issue of hygiene came up frequently. For me, I would need to remove the chastity belt every time I used the bathroom which would be annoying and time consuming. Additionally, I would need to remove and clean the belt nightly to avoid getting any sort of infection as some of the medications I am on have weakened my immune system. There are sites with higher quality and custom-made pieces, but I do not feel comfortable spending $500-$1000 USD on a kink that I am trying for the first time. Even with the higher-quality pieces, the issue of hygiene and the practicalities of wearing a chastity belt long-term still remain. All in all, I feel very disappointed. I would love to try chastity especially for Locktober but it does not seem to fit practically for my needs and lifestyle.
