It's not brain surgery ... except, I guess it is ...

Two years ago I was diagnosed with a small pituitary tumor. It is a microadenoma. This is a tiny tumor that creates hormones. It is not cancerous but can cause chaos. We suspected that I had the tumor because of symptoms that I was having. So it wasn't a surprise when this was confirmed. However, when we did the MRI scan to find the tumor, we also found a large sphenoid sinus cyst (circled in the photo -The area that is white is supposed to empty, but it is filled with a large cyst).

IMG_20250806_143248.png On Tuesday, they are going to go up through my nose and remove the cyst completely. They will also take a more in depth look at the tumor while they are in there.

The surgery shouldn't be too invasive, but it is still surgery and they are rooting around in my head, right next to my brain. There are obvious risks, though my surgeon is pretty confident about the outcome.

I am getting super anxious about it, but its more so the fear of the unknown. I am also worried about the recovery and what that will look like. The biggest symptom during recovery is headaches, which I already deal with on a daily basis. So I am hoping it is manageable.

We also don't know what the tumor will do after it is no longer being squished by the cyst. It could make more hormones and create more havoc or it could calm down. It is going to be a process, and we don't know what to expect.

However, I am trying to remain positive, and focus on all of the positive outcomes that could happen. This could change my quality of life!

So please, post positive thoughts, cheer me on and be patient with me as I recover over the next few weeks.
