I've had horrible sleeping problems for a long lime, and the past three (?) years I've had to use meds to be able to sleep. A couple of months ago I decided that I'm eating too many meds anyway, so it was time to get rid of the sleeping meds. *Sigh* Long story short: life changes, worries, catastrophes, sadness, stress... But because I'm a stubborn idiot I've stuck with my decision. I did a four-week app-based CBT-i programme, but because it didn't take i continued until just a week ago (13 weeks in all) when I gave up on it.
My problem isn't falling asleep - I'm dead tired all the time, so I'm in Slumberland in minutes - but I can't stay asleep... I don't typically get more than six hours per night, and even that in parts.
What bedtime ritual, if any, do you have? I bruff me teef (I don't know why I like to say it like that), I take my meds, I prepare the sleep apnea mask. In bed I select something on YouTube (on my bedside tablet) to cover my 24/7 356 tinnitus.
What time do you go to sleep? My rational functions start deteriorating at nine - because I've been up since sometime between four and five - but I guess I typically go to sleep at ten.
What time do you wake up? At one, three, four and five. It's actually pretty regular.
Who do you sleep with? Pets and stuffies also count for this. I haven't had any sleeping partners since Mr Owl and Baron J. of Elk moved to the wardrobe a couple of years ago.
What kind of bed do you have? A firm 80x200cm metal day-bed thing: IKEA's Fyresdal. I love it to bits! But the mattress(es) need to be renewed soon.
What kind and how many blankets and pillows? One duvet, one pillow. I don't know what to say about them... There was a time when I preferred low and soft pillows, now I want heavier, sturdier stuff. My duvet is warm in winter but somehow cool in summer. I don't know how they did that!
What do you wear to bed? When it's warm I often sleep naked. In winter I like short-sleeved and short-legged pyjamas, or (if my pyjamas are in the wash) boxers and a tee.
In what position do you sleep? I sleep on my back.
What, if any, specific sleep habits or quirks do you have? I keep waking up.
Describe what a perfect night, from getting into bed until getting out of it, would (hypothetically) look like. I go to bed and fall asleep - and stay asleep! - until morning.
