When I received the message from Butterfly about a new site...I had to check it out!
GD...although a long standing institution was definitely showing signs of decline in my mind and I blogged about it a few times, the dynamic to me seemed to be much more about the self rather than the community, people just wanted to receive dares and a lot of dares...more so than even seemed physically possible, it was more becoming a narcistic obsession with getting contact and receiving attention...though that is probably a wider reflection of where society is going (standard rant about what social media is doing to people!).
I hope that this site will take people back to the roots of what made GD great, creative people sharing ideas, fun games and cool interactions...and primarily community rather than pure self interest, I think checking if people are robots is nice touch on the registration as well!
I hope to see this site thrive and grow, it will take a lot of work from new members to build the content and structure for sure...and building up a solid member base will take time, but I'll say to anyone who has joined...stick with it, this has the potential to be a better place than GD! It will just take the right people to get it there and a little elbow grease to get the wheels turning!
