A Hello and: Memories of the site that seems to be gone

Seeing a site I was a member of since i was at uni well over 10 years ago now (under a different username), close its doors with no explanation just a goodbye message hits hard. I haven't been active there in quite some time but It was the first place i could really explore the kinky side of life, the first place i could really just be me and knowing that its all gone just sucks.

Well, I was able to save quite something, but by far not everything I loved...

By the way, you can search for a thread title (with "site:getdare.com") or for the thread URL itself on this site: https://yandex.com I was able to recover a lot of dare threads from its web cache. (You might want to hurry, until the cache is updated...)

Sadly, blog posts are lost nevertheless, as they need a log in.

There are speculations but nobody knows for sure....

I think Depp just was tired of doing it and when there were hazzles he just pulled the plug.
At beginning of last year he already considered closing the site, due to it being a financial loss. But then it seemed to be continuing after donations came in. This time no idea what it was.
 
Can't say I was the most active on there but I was on there for something like 15 years on and off. I met some lovely people, some of whom popped back up years later to say kind things and reconnect. I'm very sad all those messages have gone, along with memories of old connections, and the impossibility of ever hearing again from those people.
Wonderful Joan, who I taught kink to and who went off to marry her boyfriend of six months. Kate, who reappeared out of the blue to thank me for our early days of online exploration together. T, who I am still in touch with today and meet up to play with every so often... and many others. But everyone else is forever lost, now.

I had a long running discipline thread on gd with some excellent reports written by those I dealt with, along with the punishments I set them. I need to check if the Internet Archive picked that up at least.

Unhappy that no warning was given of this shutdown so we could save and archive things we wanted to keep.

I've been lurking ever since, but the few times I stepped out of my shell, I had fun. Back in the day I learned a lot of kink stuff from gD, Tumblr, and fanfiction. 🫣

After searching online I was able to find this place, and despite what was lost, I'm so glad to have fallen down the rabbit hole. I wanted to get back into kink this year, so I'll try and be a little less lurky. 😳

I was shocked yesterday when I tried to open a page of the old forum ... I was registered for 9 years and 6 months ... So much memories ... Anyway, that's the life. I'm happy to have discovered this actual forum last year when it started, with the good advices of a nice member. I'm sure this place has the keys to keep a good dynamic for all of us.
 
I had only found getdare a few months ago, trying to find more exhibitionist dares for my bucket list and for using in a 18+ chatbot. I ended up on a getdare blog from someone named clairescott. She was an exhibitionist, who wrote reports on her exhibitionist adventures. She checked off all my own kinks/fetishes and I loved going through her blog and reading each one. I had planned to save the articles for future reference when I have a gf who'd be willing to do something similar. Today I came back to read some of the blogs again because they were really good, only to get a cold banner saying goodbye, it was quite a punch to the face. I'm so sad I'll never get to read those reports again, they were so good and honestly hit all the right spots. If anyone has those reports saved, I would highly appreciate it if you could share it with me.

Recommendations for similar blogs on here would also be appreciated. Thanks and hope everyone is doing well after the loss. I feel really sad now and I had only just found it recently, I can't imagine how other's who's spent so much time on this feel.
